Ace broadcaster dies of heart attack
Popular Osun State-born entertainment icon, Opeyemi Fajemileyin is dead. His death was announced earlier in the week. Until his untimely death, Fajemileyin, an ace broadcaster who was well known for his unique baritone voice, was the General Manager of Ilesa-based Unique FM, a position he managed for 2 years. He is said to have died of heart attack after his blood pressure shot up. His remains have since been deposited at a mortuary in Osun state pending a burial plan by the family.
Popularly known as Opeyemi Fajemileyin Akorowosi, he was said to have struggled with a health issue for a couple of years before his demise.
Fajemileyin was born in the mid-fifties in Igede Ekiti what now is the present Ekiti State, and had his primary and secondary education in Ekiti State and Ikire in Osun State respectively. Thereafter, he proceeded to the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos, where he studied journalism. He anchored several broadcast programmes including but not limited to “Fajemilehin on Fm”, and “Pirilologo Nji” on Radio Lagos Ikeja as well as many ewi records to his credit. In addition, he was the anchored of “Fajemilehin on The Rock” on Paramount FM in Abeokuta, Ogun state. Three different books, all on folks, add to his credit: “Ewi Kika Ati Kike”, “Ewi Iwoyi”, and “Eni Bimo Oran”.
